Warriors Bullies and Mavericks Cowards?

Baron Davis dominated the Jazz, racking up 32 points, nine rebounds and six steals.

According to Charley Rosen of Foxsports, the Warriors are nothing but bullies evidenced by their late-game cheap shots and uncalled-for assaults. I think that’s a little extreme. The Warriors were obviously frustrated last night, which resulted in some hard fouls, but it’s hard for me to call them bullies. What is obvious, however, is that Don Nelson’s version of NBA basketball (run-and-gun and live or die by the 3) is fun to watch, but doesn’t get you far in the playoffs. Rosen goes on to say “the bottom line, though, is that bullies can only intimidate and beat cowards, i.e., the Dallas Mavericks. And there's nothing cowardly about any team coached by Jerry Sloan.” True dat. Double true.

I don't think they're necessarily bullies, but the Warriors are certainly fun to watch. They're scrappy and fast as can be and when they get frustrated, just like anyone else, they result in cheap shots. It's still yet to be said if they will make it far. I think beating the "best" team in the NBA in the first round says a lot about how good they are, regardless if they don't beat the Jazz.

Warrios. Funny. Rhymes with Oreos, and Cheerios, and Borneo.

Go Jazz!

That's true Ty, but I don't think the Warriors have a fundamentally great team. I think when they get hot they're near impossible to beat, but when they're off anyone can beat them. The key to beating them, in my opinion, is by changing the tempo of the game. The Mavs tried to run with them and lost. The Jazz tried to run with them for three games and barely won two at home and then got blown out in Game 3. Game 4 was totally different; they got the ball into Boozer and were able to execute on layups and physical play in the paint.
